Welcome to Art of Brian

Welcome to my simple website for simply gorgeous prints and cards!

Meet Brian Schreiner

I am an open creative artist.  I want to share my Art with the world.  Here I am in my Studio (my wife calls it our garage!).

I may not have a fancy Website with images drifting in and out to show you I can hire an expensive web programmer, just beautiful cards and prints.

I've been painting for 50 years.  I've painted murals at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, and the Denver Airport.  I teach Art Classes at a local school near Boise, Idaho.  I also teach workshops.

Please Check out my paintings below, I've included a short story on how many of them came to be.  I would love to have one of my prints in your home.  I paint with acrylic on canvas, watercolor on paper, and mixed media.

Below each image are the sizes that are available.

All my small prints have the option to come with an ivory colored mat board that will fit a standard size picture frame so you can go buy whatever standard-sized frame you like and pop my print in.  If you like the print, I hope you will buy a piece of UV Glass to cover the print.  It will save the colors for years to come.

Print sizes are listed below each print, and (with mat to fit a standard sized frame)

Custom un-matted sizes available upon request.

Light on a Leaf   This is an Original Painting. I worked outdoors on an October day as I sketched with pencil and colored pencil. I began my painting on a 3' x 5' canvas on easel, Plein air. Later, I sketched the Boise Foothills as I saw them through the trees in the winter. I visited the site many times.

As I painted my design, I captured the sunrise and moonrise with bright colors as I used my artistic license. I felt the wind as I saw a leaf or two fly by with a rainstorm blowing through and added them to my painting. My visualization of this unique design created this original painting which I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Poplars in the Wind  There is a stunning row of Poplars in Oravada at the Oregon/Nevada state line.  As you drive on Highway 95 through this high plateau desert, they are a welcomed sight.

There is a picnic table near these trees with the sound of the rustling leaves that will hopefully bring some welcomed relief to the weary traveler.

Basque Sheep Wagon This sheep wagon sits in a pasture near Riggins, Idaho.  Invented in the late 1800’s to improve the sheep herders’ lifestyle, sheep wagons, (Carro Campo, a term used by Basque sheep herders) were built with function in mind.  They feature a bed, pull out table, stove, kitchen area and storage cabinets.  They are about 12-15 ft long and 7-8 ft wide.

Also, of note, are the painted red wheels, painted green base and white canvas roof – the flag colors of the Basque Country of Spain and France, whose immigrants are iconic with shepherding in the west.  The Basque culture thrives today in Idaho, Nevada, and California.

Retired  The contractor retired to his place in Northern California.  He also retired his 1928 Durant and put this sign on it, and he let the brambles grow over.

Retired: to withdraw from active service, to go away – as for seclusion and rest, kaput, washed up, finished, NOT!

Misplaced Wheels  I was camping near the South Fork of the Boise River in 1979 and ran across an old ranch in a state of arrested decay.  Between the broken-down buildings, broken-down fences, and broken-down ranchers, sat this classic 1948-F-100 Ford Pickup with a 1967 Elmore County, Idaho license plate.

I became intrigued as to why this pickup was on blocks thirty feet from the front porch.  It turned out that this was the rancher’s truck and that his son had decided that Dad, in his 80’s, should no longer drive, so he took the tires off the truck.  The rancher spent time in his truck listening to the radio and having a drink while watching the sunset.

I spent the day checking out these relics and photographed and painted this watercolor painting from the last shot on the roll of film.

Cabin At Stanley, Idaho.  “Where I’d rather be.”  This 1940’s cabin was near the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 93 in Stanley, Idaho.  A touch of paradise, this remote cabin in the sagebrush was away from it all.  On the Salmon River, it brought fishing to the back yard.
